Feed in Tariffs (FITS)
The Feed-in-Tariff scheme means both domestic and commercial property-owners can reduce their electricity bills and get paid for generating electricity. With new, reduced system costs, an EcoEnergies solar photovoltaic installation will be a wise investment.
Following installation, we will register your system with the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). With our help, you will also make a Feed-in-Tariff Application to your energy provider.
Once accepted, you will be receive 3 financial benefits:
(1) The Feed-in-Tariff (or "Generation Tariff"). This is a tax-free, index-linked payment guaranteed for 25 years - please see the table below.
(2) Free electricity. Use your electricity as it is generated, meaning you need to import less from the grid. This means you will see a reduction in your electricity bill. The amount you save depends on the amount you use.
(3) Payment for any electricity exported to the National Grid. This is a payment for electricity you generate but don't use. Until smart meters are introduced, it is assumed that you will export 50% of the electricity you generate, and you will be paid at 3.1p/kWh.
The greatest financial benefit will be the Feed-in-Tariff, as illustrated in the table below. (Please note - if applying after 1st April 2012, the property must achieve an Energy Performance Certificate of Level C or above; if the property achieves a lower rating, a lower tariff may be paid.)
